Le Parfumeur Rebellee
The sociological definition of
'rebel' is a person who challenges
the system as it is, and who tests
the system, but who is only outside
of it by the perception of the system
itself.

In perfumery, this means that as
rebels, we need and appreciate the
traditional system of big perfume
houses and traditional methods . . .
and we live to rattle its
tradition-bound cage.

We take the tradition, and change
it to what suits our needs today -- a
deep-seated need for more variety,
to have a different structure to our
fragrances, and to actually say and
evoke something that may be
frowned upon in 'polite' society.

We defy convention.

We don't care what you think of
us
~ we ask only that you consider
our art.

We have stepped out of the box and
then politely, but firmly, kicked it
to the curb with our sensible shoes.

We practice individual
insubordination.

We follow our bliss.

We defend the artisan's right to do
their own thing.
We have a voice and we dare to use
it.

Le Parfumeur Rebelle was created
to give the natural and botanical
perfumer a place to garner
information, access resources,
network amongst their peers and
obtain solid educations in their
creative endeavors.

We continue to work on some of
these goals, attempting to present,
through this website, as much
information about natural and
botanical perfumery as we can in a
hassle-free environment.

Some will make it, others will not,
but no one should be shoved aside
or kicked down because they don't
fit the imaginary mold, nor should
they be forced to join a secret
society to feel validated in this
business.

Long live the rebel perfumer.
